As the Dragon Boat Festival nears, some of us may be excited to join a dragon boat team. Hold your horses, eager beaver. You might be rushing in unprepared. Here is a few tips on what you should wear to join a dragon boat team.

- Be sure to wear lose fitting clothing for ease of movement.
- Use clothing made of quick drying material or can repel moisture.
- Blue jeans or denim are a strict no-no.
- Do not wear jewelry. You may lose them or it may cause injuries.
- Shorts work really well especially cycling shorts. Long pants are ideal for cooler weather conditions.
- No flip flops or footwear with no tread. Choose footwear with good tread so that they will grip when you’re on the wet areas and getting in and out of the boat.
- Do not wear a hat. This may be blown away or may also impede your rowing.
- If you want to use sunglasses or if you use eye ware , be sure to use eye wear strap to keep it on you.
- You may or may not use paddling gloves, it’s a plus, but not important.
- If it is raining, don’t forget your rain gear.
- If it is cold, layering your clothes will help a lot.
