Dujango Unchained and China
I was surprised when I read that Django Unchained was approved for distribution in China.
My guess was since it was showing the rebellion of an underclass against the slave owning class, with lots of dead slave owners this was politically correct per classical Marxist belief.
I guess somebody higher up then finally saw the film, and went, umm, this is not a very Confucian film :-)
My daughter saw it and liked it, but I could not since my wife has issues with bloodshed. She did not see pulp fiction either - I did get her to see Pulp Shakespeare!
BEIJING — "Django Unchained" became "Django Unscreened" on Thursday as Quentin Tarantino's violent slave-revenge saga was pulled from Chinese theaters on its opening day
