Video Game Nationalism

Interesting article in the NY Times - Chinese Agencies Struggle Over Video Game

Take Aways:

  • Online Video Games are at least $2.9 Billion a in China and rose 50% last year.
  • 7 of the top 10 Games in China are done by Chinese companies (other are 1 American and 2 S. Korean).
  • Interesting quote - The press and publication administration has taken a hard line against outside involvement in the industry, stating flatly last month that foreign investment in Chinese online gaming operations, whether by joint ventures, cooperatives or other means, is forbidden.
It is a bit off topic from Learning Chinese Software :-)

Learn Chinese Software Comparison Table Updated

I updated the Software for Learning Chinese adding more about compatibility (Mac and PC) and if it teaches Simplified Chinese Characters or not. I also added pictures of each products. For Teenage and above, Software is a great way to Learn Chinese.

The video's I have for Learn Mandarin Chinese Video's/DVD's for Kids/Children are meant more for kids. The bilingual DVD's are great for any age. A favorite of mine is New Year in Ping Wei - A Documentary of China - DVD and The Making of Monkey King & Monkey King Wreaks Havoc in Heaven Bilingual DVD Chinese/English

Learning Chinese Software & Tranliteration

Transliteration is the idea of using Pinyin in helping to teach Chinese using Learning Chinese Software, instead of of getting hung up on Chinese Characters. Interesting idea.

Learning Chinese

I noticed a customer who had visited ChildBook.com a couple of times of the last month, and finally made a purchase. It was a new Software program for Teaching Chinese that I just started stocking. I would appreciate any feedback on items I should stock. I just got in a series of Learning Chinese Books and by Monday I should have them up on the site. It takes time to upload items, write the description, scan pictures, etc.
