Air Pollution Choking Chinese Tourism

I can understand this. China is a country I would love to visit, but I do worry about food and air pollution.

Europe searches for charms to lure Chinese tourists

Fun article to read. I am surprised at what major attractions are to Chinese tourists. It shows the key is understanding what your customer values. And not assuming just because you like something, your customers will also like it.

Outlet Mall at Morongo and Chinese

There is a huge outlet Mall near Palm Springs, on the Indian Reservation of Morongo. Tourist buses full of Chinese stop by here. And the Chinese tourists leave with bags full of high end luxury items.

Some observations:
  • Announcements were done in English and Mandarin
  • Huge amounts of Chinese there
  • Lots of tour buses in the parking lot
  • The most bags I saw a person carry was 5
  • Food was fast food, unless you went over to the Casino Buffet or Ruby's.
  • Right next to the Morongo Casino
  • Two stores had Chinese speaking sales persons

Chinese Lining Up in Record Numbers to Visit the U.S.

The good news is the amount of tourists going to the US has increased. The bad news as a percentage of world tourism, the US has shrunk from 17.3% in 2000, to 11.2 today. The reason was the increase in security after 9-11.

The amount of tourists from China who visited the US last year was 1.2 Million, and it's expected to be 2 Million by 2015.

The Techno Prince @ Taste of Taiwan

I was looking at two travel shows in LA, deciding which one I was going to propose going to with my dear wife and one of them has a dance sponsored by the Taiwan Culture Center called the Three Techno Princes
The Three Techno Princes
Presented by: Taiwan Center of Greater L.A., Taiwan Tourism Bureau

At the LA Travel & Adventure Show in Long Beach. So my next question is, what is the Techno Princes? Seems to be per this site, Techno Santaitz is the evolution of Taiwan’s traditional folk religion’s “Great God Generals (大仙尪仔 or 神將); large puppets in the image of gods worn on the shoulders by bearers.

And a clip from Youtube of another Southern California Performance:

Chinese Tourism in the US

Mainland Chinese tourism to the US has increased by 50% since last year!

Nice general article, some parts I disagree with.  There is HUGE amount of Chinese tour groups that are used by mainland Chinese tourists that offer excellent deals including food and hotel rooms.  With the tour groups, price is often an important consideration.
