Fixing China’s Coal Problem
Good news, which I am surprised about, for cleaning of China's Coal.
China is actually reducing the pollution through scrubbing technology for power plants that use coal, as well as discouraging the home use of coal for heating.
Why does this matter? China is the biggest burner of coal in the world, and probably burns as much coal as the rest of the world combined. China has a huge pollution issue that is impacting the health of it's people, and causing social unrest.

Fallout of US Spying on US Companies in China
US Companies have helped the US government spy per Edward Snowden. And in a catch 22 situation, they can't tell You if they have helped the US spy, since to even admit they have could get them trouble. From a privacy prospective, it's very troubling.
With the revelations of Edward Snowden, US Businesses in China that sell computer hardware, such as IBM and Cisco, may have had their sales hurt. China's government may be using this as an excuse to buy Chinese goods, or there may be a legitimate reasons for this. IBM's sales dropped 22% in China. Cisco had a 18% drop in orders. And Cisco had significant drop in sales in Brazil (25%), Russia (30%), India, and Mexico.

LA schools' iPad adventure keeps getting worse
Amazing!
The LA schools' iPad adventure keeps getting worse - LA Times
LAUSD has great ideas, unfortunately they have big issues implementing them. The high drop out rate at many LAUSD schools is a crime.
My take on the Great iPad Adventure:
- LAUSD thought the Software had a lifetime license, and it's only for 3 years.
- LAUSD, where I did my student Teaching, has huge IT issues.
- LAUSD should have started small, and figured out what works before expanding.
- The plan for having each of the 650,000 students with an iPad, at a cost of $700 per tablet, about a Billion Dollars total.
